I’ve really been enjoying Favit lately; it lets me see many tweets I would’ve missed and feel ultra-superrior in my god-like impartiality. Seeing that stream of tweets in such a fast manner helps me to see some trends. One more annoying trend is the bevy of tweets about twitter.

It took my awhile to come to terms with why they agitated me so much. I had nothing against the people who said them, aside from the fact that most perpetrators are repeat repeat repeat offenders times infinity plus one. Here’s what I’ve got so far:

They’re exclusionary. Much of the time the jokes are set in an us vs. them situation. This really only bothers me because who would boast of being a part of such a nerdy club? It comes off as awkwardly pedantic.

They’re boring. Imagine if a standup comedian did a whole set on microphones. “Man, thanks for commin’ out you guys, this is a great crowd. Speaking of crowds, aren’t microphones ZANY?! I mean, they amplify your voice…LISTEN TO ME I’M SUPER LOUD. Man…microphones.” You’d probably want to just get up and leave.

They’re repetitive. Yes, we get that there’s a characer limit. Yes, we get that you want stars. Yes, we get that celebs use twitter. Can we hear something original?

In summation, could we please stop with all the twitter-themed jokes and just do jokes about real things like farts and meetings? Thanks.

Okay, here’s the thing. There’s a lot of dark, myoglobin-rich red meat in there as well as a good bit of connective tissue. I would recommend cutting the fingers into one-inch pieces and braising as you would oxtails. As for the big meaty palms, honestly, I think you might be well served (and tastily served, as well) by stripping the meat from the carpals, grinding it with spices, lightly breading, and frying up as patties. You can add the bones to the braising pot with the fingers to add a little more umami as well.

The Girl at the Bus Stop - Chapter 1:

Short and sweet, I can already feel my heart aching from the start of Paul’s story.

He feels the usual fluttering in his chest. Part anxiety. Part excitement. It always starts as the bus approaches the roundabout near the hospital. Her stop is just after that - the one opposite the hospital’s main entrance. Will she be there today? He knows she should be. It’s term time.

He remembers when he first saw her a few months ago. He’d glanced up idly from his morning paper and was instantly struck by her face. Porcelain skin with such delicate features. Dark, shoulder-length hair with a fringe she had to keep pushing out of her green eyes. She reminded him a little of his ex-wife. Without the anger and bitterness.

I'll be finishing up the trilogy soon, just finished "Ghosts" yesterday. It didn't hit me with quite the same force as "City of Glass" but I think it might linger in the creases and crevasses of my mind more.
