Sure, I’m at the bottom of this scrum because of my own choices - I chose to jump on the ball; I chose to play spiritual rugby; I chose to leave my cup at home - but I’m pretty sure the people running out of the stands to pile on are outside my control. Also, while the bottom of the scrum sucks, it’s really more dangerous up higher where elbows swing free.

I’m happy one of them climbed off the pile today.

I perpetually feel inferior to people who are multilingual. I’ve got a decent ear, but I’m habitually lazy. We’ll see if I can’t overcome that with my latest attempt at learning another language.
We’re getting a new refrigerator but are torn between two. One is the new Samsung with the built-in Sodastream dispenser (which would save me counter space and the space I burn in our current fridge for the bottles that should be filled cold)…but the freezer on the other fridge is sooooo much better. We tried to choose last night to no avail.
I had what I can only conclude was a panic attack yesterday. Yippee. New neuroses and psychoses.
I haven’t been on my bike in almost two weeks; I’m a little afraid to go out because of what happened the last time I rode.
Everyone else may be looking forward to the three-day weekend, but it just looks like a huge, black, undifferentiated block of time to me. Memorial Day used to be my favorite holiday, all the way into my mid-20s. The traditional start of summer, an excuse to throw a big bbq and have friends over…I don’t like people anymore and summer starts in PHX sometime in mid-March and ugh.

Self-destructive: That’s somewhat new behavior for me. I’d call it “growth” or “maturity”, but it seems, perhaps, counter to those goals, yeah?
Self-loathing: So many, many reasons I hate myself of late. It’s weird, as I’m a bit of a narcissist, right? But there it is.

Self-esteem (low): Dudes and dudettes, a beautiful, sexy woman (or Matt Bomer, for that matter) could climb on top of me right now and tell me how fantastic and hot I am and I would not believe it. You, gentle reader, could laugh at a joke I’ve told and I’d just think it was nice that your momma raised you to be polite. Again: it’s weird as I’m a goddamn narcissist.

A clever person might conclude that the first two points are at least casually if not causally related; a cleverer person might conclude all are of a piece with my fucked-upédness.

I make impulsive decisions that are all too often self-sabotaging. Some of these bring me joy nonetheless, so I figure out ways of mitigating or ameliorating or just plain delaying the consequences.

However, some of these are terrible, personally damaging decisions *that I could fix or rescind* but I don’t because I’m stubborn. I made a choice; I picked a path. Damn the torpedoes and damn the consequences…go ahead and let the self-flagellation commence.
